A Joyful Start to the New Year
We begin 2026 with a splash. January 11 we are welcoming Daisy into the Body of Christ through Baptism. We are also receiving Alex into the Church. A perfect way to renew our own promises to God and one another. Refreshments will follow.
A Joyful Start to the Christmas Season
Our Christmas season began early with the return of St. Paul’s Santa Claus Parade Float after a five-year absence — and we even received an Honourable Mention! The trailer, generously loaned by Ding’s Garage, was the perfect size. We weredelighted to welcome new volunteers — Sarah, Ren, Daisy, and Alex — who joined Gary and Tim. Together, they handed out 300 invitations to our Family Christmas Service themed “Santa Claus Is Coming to Church.” We’re already aiming for 500 invitations next year!
Advent and Preparation
The following week, Sally Harrington-Philippo led an Advent Quiet Morning, focusing on the peace Christ brings us. This was a new and meaningful experience for some participants, and we plan to repeat a Quiet Morning soon with a different theme.
Skip, Tim, and Gary set up the Christmas trees, transporting them from Gary’s storage loft — a task that has become wonderfully efficient over the years. Alison and Beverley decorated the windows, Martha and the Flower Committee arranged the memorial poinsettias, and Gary installed our new chancel lights.
Music and Community Events
The brass ensemble 5Brass / 5Cuivres presented a benefit concert titled “Exploring Space.” In addition to performing several pieces, they introduced the audience to their instruments. It was an excellent evening, and we hope to welcome them back in the coming year.

On December 17, we enjoyed our annual visit from Knowlton Academy. We presented the story of Christmas and had lots of questions. Many former students at KA are now returning to say hi and say how much St. Paul’s has meant to them.
Quiet Christmas
Our Quiet Christmas Service of candle-lighting and remembrance was lightly attended in person but deeply appreciated online. Many shared that it was an important and meaningful part of their Christmas season.
Christmas Eve: A Night to
Remember
Christmas Eve was amazing! We welcomed over 280 people in person across three services, with more than 6,000 views on Facebook. The 4:00 p.m. Tree Decorating Service was filled with children who sang, decorated the tree, and met Santa (Gary!) after the service. Each child received an age-appropriate book or Bible and some candy.
Looking Ahead to 2026
• January 11 – Baptism & Reception
• One 10:00 service only through January
•February 15 – Vestry (Annual General Meeting)
• February 18 – Lent
• February 22 – Ash Sunday
• April 3 – Good Friday • April 5 – Easter.
Three baptisms, five weddings, and two memorial services are anticipated for 2026.
A Word from the Board of
Management
At our most recent meeting, the Board reflected that 2025 has been far more encouraging than 2024. The sale of land and a promised donation have strengthened our financial outlook.
We also noted how many younger people were at the Christmas services. These were not relatives of members, but people who came with their families on their own, perhaps invited by the Santa invitation? A hopeful and encouraging sign.
By the grace of God, in Jesus Christ, we continue onward and upward toward God’s great call in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).
A very Happy and Holy New Year to you all,
In Christ,
Your Board of Management.
